Meet the Counselors
Lisa Tenreiro, Director of School Counseling
In 2015, Mrs. Tenreiro was awarded the Rhode Island State Counselor of the Year.
As an Induction Coach with the R.I. Department of Education and The New Teacher Center, she spent two years supporting the growth and development of new teachers throughout the state.
Mrs. Tenreiro earned a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education, teaching fourth grade for eight years, and sixth grade for four years.
She earned a M.A. in School Counseling from Rhode Island College and was a school counselor with the Woonsocket School Department for five years.
She is a member of the American School Counselor Association and the Rhode Island School Counselor Association where she serves as Vice-President.
Cindy Lancaster, School Counselor
Mrs. Lancaster earned her B.A. in Humanistic Studies from McGill University in Montreal followed by two Master’s degrees: one in Literacy from Rhode Island College and one in School Counseling from Providence College. She brings 24 years of experience teaching English/ESL to diverse middle and high school students.
Since 2010, Mrs. Lancaster has been a school counselor, one year at the elementary level and the last eleven at McCourt Middle School in Cumberland, helping students and earning the Ocean State School Counselor Accountability Report in 2013 and 2014. She was the 2016 Rhode Island School Counselor of the Year and shared a Golden Apple Award in 2020 with her counseling partner at McCourt.
Mrs. Lancaster has been a member of the Rhode Island and American School Counseling Associations since 2009, and she recently became a member of the New England Association of College Admission Counseling.
Marielle Rando, School Counselor
After earning a B.A. from Randolph College in Virginia, Ms. Rando worked in adaptive sports for several years in Virginia and Seattle.
Ms. Rando earned her M.Ed. in Sports Leadership followed by an M.Ed. in School Counseling from Providence College. She is a member of the Rhode Island School Counselor Association and American School Counselor Association.
